- NOTICES: LEGAL AND OTHERWISE
-
- 1. PIANOMAN is distributed as is, with no guarantee that it will work
- properly in all situations. The author will in no way be liable for any
- damages arising out of the use or inability to use these programs. (But
- do let me know if you find a bug--I intend to fix any that turn up.)
-
- 2. PIANOMAN, PLAYER PIANO, FUGUES, and HARMONIZER, constituting the complete
- PIANOMAN package, are copyright (c) 1984 by Neil J. Rubenking. The author
- reserves the exclusive right to distribute this package, or any part thereof,
- for profit.
-
- 3. User groups and clubs are authorized to distribute PIANOMAN as follows:
- A: No charge is made for the software except for a nominal disk and
- distribution fee of no more than $8.
- B: Recipients are to be informed of the "user-supported software" concept
- and encouraged to support it with their donations.
- C: The programs and documentation are not modified in any way, and are
- distributed together.
-
- 4. Anyone may acquire a free copy of PIANOMAN for examination by sending a
- blank formatted diskette WITH a pre-paid self-addressed disk mailer. If you
- don't include the return mailer, you won't get your disk back!
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 5. Users are encouraged to share the PIANOMAN programs with others. They are
- ALSO encouraged to support this kind of software distribution by making the
- requested contribution of $25. to the Author, after having had a chance to try
- the program and determine its value.
-
-
- COMPATIBILITY:
- PIANOMAN works on an IBM PC or a very compatible compatible (but NOT the
- PC Jr.). It directly accesses the screen memory and several ports, and even
- replaces one interrupt. It requires 128K of memory, and can make use of up
- to the full 640K. To start the program, just type PIANOMAN.
-
-
- DOCUMENTATION:
- PIANOMAN.DOC is meant to be screened, not printed. The easiest way to
- screen it is to put your DOS disk in A:, PIANOMAN in B:, and, with the A>
- prompt showing, type "MORE<PIANOMAN.DOC". Or just type "READDOC". Also look
- at UTILITY.DOC (explaing PLAYER PIANO, FUGUES, and HARMONIZER).

-
- CAUTION:
- In order to record your notes accurately, with the note starting when you
- press a key and ending when you release it, PIANOMAN replaces the usual
- "keyboard interrupt", the routine that handles information from the keyboard.
- IT IS IMPERATIVE that PIANOMAN gets to put BACK the usual routine!! You can't
- <Ctrl><Break> out of the program while the new routine is active, but for the
- very reason that the new routine IS in effect, you can crash the program by
- typing a lot of notes very fast WHILE recording. If you do, you just have to
- shut your PC off and turn it on again.
-
- I suggest that if you want accurate trills and ornaments in your recorded
- tunes, you record them at a slower speed and use the editing menu to make them
- as fast as you want. This avoids the obnoxious chance of crashing and losing
- what you've got in memory.
